Bring in Weighta critique on populism

DEUTSCH

artists & theoreticians will meet in several european cities, in order to present their view on the subject then to colleagues from other cities, opening discussion and dialogue. This developed different than expected!

From cities where several artists come from (Berlin, Zurich), one prefers to bring in one’s own point of view, one’s own work. So, let’s show how artists and theorists perceive the world as an individual, how it affects them, and how they incorporate that information into their work. It’s like one of the participants says (november2019) “A virus is going around”, and awareness is supposed  to act as an antidote.” In the many short lectures artists and academics bring in a variety of perspectives and topics. We will probably examine first the term “populism”, as well as the value of Sonic Fiction stories (with sound narratives), followed by a critical look at Gretas Greenworld, in addition to this the pain of the forests caused by populist presidents, to draw attention to the changing interpersonal relationships on the one hand by the binary world (with other language, empathy and twitter as a leitmotif) on the other hand by the physically changing urban network. The manipulation of language for consumer- and political purposes is familiar to all of us and is often named. In one talk / performance one artist connects this with BDSM (bondage sadomaso) - Talks, another artist integrates the Boxingsport, in order to connect this with Rap-language. On two long evenings, these very different verbal and performative themes will meet each other. One may be curious what grows out of this plurality.

Both (Berlin) evenings have very different program offerings popping around “populism” which are identical in structure only. We always show several performances and a dense program composed of short lectures (2 hours: 2 theoreticians, 3 artists with subsequent group moderation), on the 3rd day a 3 hours workshop, with 4 very different perspectives on “Populism”
