Durch die Glieder eines Zauns in einem Zoo werden Augen und Ohren auf eine Diskussion zwischen zwei heranwachsenden Mädchen gelenkt: Bildung, warum? und für wen? Die Debatte stützt sich auf die Theorien von Theodor Adorno und Hellmut Becker in "Erziehung zur Mündigkeit“ (und Verantwortung) von 1969 und stellt eine Kritik an den antikonformistischen Forderungen nach der Rückkehr zum Zustand der Unschuld dar. Für Adorno und Becker muss Bildung vor allem die Bildung eines wahren Bewusstseins als Unterstützung für die Ziele der Demokratie ermöglichen. Das junge Alter der Akteurinnen, das Eingeschlossen sein von Tieren stellt die Konzepte der deutschen Theoretiker in ein neues Licht. Wie weit kann der Kompromiss zwischen Anpassung und Widerstand in einer Welt gehen, in der die individuellen Freiheiten zunehmend bedroht sind? Wird der einsame Steinbock der auf dem Dach seines Stalls liegt, in der Diskussion der beiden Mädchen eine Antwort auf das Problem der Anpassung finden?

Through the links of a fence in a zoo, eyes and ears are riveted on a discussion between two adolescent girls: education, why? and for whom? The debate is based on Theodor Adorno’s and Hellmut Becker’s theories in “Education for Maturity“ (and Responsibility) 1969, and presents a critique of the anticonformist claims made for the return to a state of innocence. For Adorno and Becker, education must above all enable the formation of true consciousness as support for the goals of democracy.
The young age of the actors, the enclosure of animals place the German theorists’ concepts in a new light.
How far can the compromise between adaptation and resistance go in a world where individual freedoms are under increasing threat? Will the solitary ibex lying on the roof of his barn, find an answer to the problem of adaptation in the two girls’ discussion?
